euronews hi-tech – Radiation-surviving organism yields its secrets

水曜日, 2月 1st, 2012

The “world’s toughest bacterium” seems to have superpowers that can survive even the deadly gamma radiation that comes from a nuclear explosion. An international group of scientists has published the results of a long study of a soil microorganism that can stand about a thousand times more Gamma rays than a human. Hi-tech spoke to Macromolecular Crystallographer Joanna Timmins: “One of the main focuses of the work in our group is the study of this bacteria called Deinoccocus radiodurans, which is extremely radiation resistant, and so we’re trying to understand a little bit more how it has developed such properties, since nowhere on Earth are there such high doses of radiation that it can actually withstand.” Was the radioresistant bacterium brought to Earth from Mars, as one theory suggests, or were its mechanisms developed on Earth as a side effect of drought or other distress? Its defense works on the molecular level. To see how this incredible jump between the worlds of physics and natural science works a traditional microscope will not do. Scientists use the European synchrotron, located in Grenoble, France, to discover the atomic structure of the bacterium’s protein defense system. Synchrotrons produce thin beams of X-ray light using the energy emitted by electrons accelerated in a vacuum inside a circular magnetic field. The powerful X-ray beams are then “tailored” so their wavelengths can have the desired experimental characteristics, and the molecule hunt can

FACEBOOK PAGE www.facebook.com Karim/220109004742652 FAISALABAD: In 2004, Arfa Karim Randhawa was the youngest ever Microsoft certified professional in the world. Born in 1995, she received the prestigious title at the age of nine. On December 22, Aarifa was admitted to Lahore’s CMH hospital after suffering cardiac arrest. On Thursday, doctors said there is no hope for her survival, and that her life support could be switched off ‘at any time’. Aarifa’s father, Lt Col (Retd) Amjad Karim Randhawa told The Express Tribune that she had suffered an epileptic attack, which caused severe brain and heart damage. Randhawa said “only a miracle will allow my brilliant, genius daughter to live now”. After the news of Aarifa’s condition emerged, Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif took notice and offered economic support to the family, but they have refused to take the money. When Aarifa, now 16, was given the title of a Microsoft professional as a young child, she visited the company’s headquarters in the US. When she met Bill Gates himself, she had two questions: Why weren’t children allowed to work for Microsoft, and why such few women worked for the organisation. Her love for technology, however, started long before she was recognised internationally. After discovering computers for the first time at the age of five, she pestered her father for a personal computer, and after that there was no looking back. Aarifa’s father recalled the year in which his daughter passed the test

The knowledge Bruce had. One of his main passions among martial arts was Philosophy. Use his wisdom in your own life. There are still speculations of his cause of death. .. Its too hard to accept that a man of such fitness and strength could die so suddenly..makes you wonder.. He had so much unfinished potential. We should study his work and writings to gain a better understanding of ourselves and the world around. Lets fulfill our potential and carry on where Bruce left off. Exploring the work of Margaret Mead, this film investigates the 12 months Mead spent with the Samoans in the Twenties. Her resulting book, Coming Of Age In Samoa, had a huge impact on Western culture. Mead believed cultures like the Samoans could teach people how to live in harmony. Her book depicts a society of free love — devoid of jealousy and teenage turmoil. But, decades later, her work was criticised as being tainted by her romantic views and strong belief in liberal values. Tales From The Jungle examines whether Mead’s study was merely misinterpretation and romantic wishful thinking.

Legendary Pulpiteer lecture on Sermon Preparation for the 2008 Pastor & Leaders Conference. Suppose you are visiting a church and the pastor becomes ill. He knows you will speak in churches, when given an opportunity. Or, suppose that it’s Saturday night, and your pastor calls, saying that he cannot speak on Sunday and needs a fill-in. Or, suppose you are at a civic club meeting, and you are asked to speak for ten minutes about the upcoming fundraiser. If you choose to speak, you have little time to come up with appropriate words. What can you do? If you consistently practice the following disciplines, you can learn to speak extemporaneously, or on the spur of the moment. While we prefer more time to prepare for sermons, we sometimes are asked to speak with little notice. I remember visiting my grandmother’s church as a young preacher boy. Her pastor, an older gentleman, would ask me to give the message. I asked him why he would ask me on such short notice. He quoted 2 Timothy 4:2a: “Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season….” Therefore, here are some tips I have learned along the way after fifteen years of preaching and speaking. They will work at churches, synagogues, civic groups, political rallies, or wherever you have to give an impromptu speech. 1. Study, study, study. This was Charles Haddon Spurgeon’s secret of preparation. He would read and absorb information during the week. On Saturdays, he would go into his study and pray for a sermon. Sometimes

Sun Tzu The Art Of War 6/10

水曜日, 11月 16th, 2011

Communist Chinese leader Mao Zedong partially credited his victory over Chiang Kai-shek and the Kuomintang in 1949 to The Art of War. The work strongly influenced Mao’s writings about guerrilla warfare, which further influenced communist insurgencies around the world. General Vo Nguyen Giap, the military mastermind behind victories over French and the American forces in Vietnam, was an avid student and practitioner of Sun Tzu’s ideas. America’s defeat here, more than any other event, brought Sun Tzu to the attention of American military thought leaders. Ho Chi Minh translated the work for his Vietnamese officers to study.[14][15] The Department of the Army in the United States, through its Command and General Staff College, has directed all units to maintain libraries within their respective headquarters for the continuing education of personnel in the art of war. The Art of War is mentioned as an example of works to be maintained at each individual unit, and staff duty officers are obliged to prepare short papers for presentation to other officers on their readings.

Moonlight Sonata Classical Guitar Eric Henderson

日曜日, 11月 13th, 2011

www.EricHenderson.org Classical Guitar – Moonlight Sonata Eric Henderson is one of only three people to study privately with the master guitarist Andres Segovia. Eric Henderson spent several years in Spain learning the intricacies of the classical guitar, while playing as much as 12 hours a day. In addition to studying with Andres Segovia, Henderson has studied guitar with Christopher Parkening, Angel Romero, Ernesto Bitetti, Emilio Pujol and Antonia Morales. He has spent time studying Baroque interpretation with Ton Koopman and Henk Dekker, and theory and composition with Aureo Hererro. While Eric was in Spain he also had the honor of studying with the great composer Federico Moreno Torroba, perfecting the interpretation of Torrobas Sonatina in A. Eric Henderson’s new CD “Homage” and DVD “Homage Guitar Masterpieces” are a collection of pieces he has studied, arranged and performed over the last four decades. Both the CD and DVD include pieces by Bach, Villa Lobos, and other standards of the classical guitar. Eric also performs his arrangements of Little Wing by Jimi Hendrix and the Jagger song, Paint it Black as well three original compositions. Ludwig van Beethoven, is popularly known for his “Moonlight” Sonata . The work was completed in 1801 and rumored to be dedicated to his pupil, Countess Giulietta Guicciardi. secretspaceprogram.com Topic Worlds Above and Below: How A Secret Civilization Broke Away From Our Own One thing that a study of the UFO makes abundantly clear: someone is operating technology that is not supposed to exist, and yet it does. Silent craft, for example, that can instantly accelerate, many of which are said to be of non-human origin, but others which are argued to be of classified manufacture. Is there a clandestine infrastructure that has made significant breakthroughs, but which has kept them secret from the rest of us? Richard Dolan answers in the affirmative. He argues that the UFO phenomenon is infinitely more complex than many have previously suggested, and that human and non-human groups are behind what we call UFOs. Within the human, classified part, breakthroughs have leap-frogged over each other to produce a society with substantially more advanced scientific, technological, and cosmological ideas — a society that can accurately be called a “breakaway civilization.” This covert civilization has continued to interact with our own “official” society, but at the same time appears to have interactions or encounters with one or more of the non-human groups that are here on Planet Earth. The result is a clandestine cold war, very possibly with multiple human and non-human factions. 03 Apr 2011 facebook.com (info blog), keyholepublishing.com Black budget projects, The World after disclosure, National security state, Breakaway civilization. STEVEN HALPERN Cymatic Imagery of Sacred Chant recorded Inside the Great Pyramid

金曜日, 9月 30th, 2011

Cymatics is the study of the effects of sound vibrations on physical matter. When I was introduced to the pioneering work of Dr. Hans Jenny in 1977, it provided the visual evidence that proved the physical power of sound and music. This study has always been a featured part of my lectures and workshops. Now, with ‘sound made visible,’ it was possible to demonstrate astonishing effects on solids, liquids and gases. John Stuart Reid and Erik Larson improved upon Dr Jenny’s tonoscope with their new CymaScope (TM) When we met at a Cymatics Therapy Conference, John offered to see what images the recording I made in 1981 while I chanted Inside the Great Pyramid would produce. As you will see, and hear, the results were simply amazing. Note: I filmed the events on my hand-held digital video camera. The sound quality was not nearly as good as the CD, so we overdubbed as much of the pure CD sound as possible in post-production. I highly recommend visiting John and Erik’s website www.sonic-age.com as well as www.cymaticsource.com for the actual DVDs and books by Dr. Hans Jenny. To experience the majestic power of the King’s Chamber acoustics and subtle energy fields, the highest quality sound is available on my CD, INITIATION. A special bonus is the ‘silent meditation’ that truly holds powerful quantum field energy. This CD is available from www.innerpeacemusic.com
